Hey hey hey!!
I am STOKED to take on this new challenge for myself for the month of August! I can’t wait to share it with you :’)
But first, I want to share a short story about myself. Growing up, my life surrounded first gymnastics, then cheerleading. If I did one thing, I felt like that was all I needed! Why do I need multiple interests when I already love the one I have? – Well, Carly, because you’re not going to be able to use tumbling to relax when you’re older. You’re just going to hurt yourself. And not even look cute doing it. -Over the past couple years, Eric and I have talked a TON about trying to find me new hobbies. I need ways to occupy my time and be independent. Apparently you’re boring to talk to when you do the same thing every day… hahaha. But really, I just want to become passionate about something again in the way that I was passionate about cheer! I realized the only way I’m going to find that ‘something’ is by TRYING something.
So, I am making August a month of resetting and finding myself through outdoor activities! I’m sure I can’t be the only one that feels this way, but it feels like life has been so predictable and ordinary. I need to refocus, especially bc school stress is about to hit on the 20th. And I feel like the best way to do that is by filling my time with something valuable. *cough cough – key idea* NEW HOBBIES.
Also, as it’s basically the last month of summer I obvi want to take advantage of the nice weather and somewhat free time that I have.
My overall goal is to expand my interests and pick up some new hobbies along the way. I don’t know about you, but for me it has been WAY too easy for me to slip into the norms of life. Gym, work, dinner, see Eric for a couple hours (if I’m lucky), shower, sleep, repeat… It feels like there’s no time for the things I want to do, let alone trying NEW things.
So, my plan as of now is to try one new activity – or just something I don’t do often – every week. Just ONE! On every other day of the week I’m going to do SOMETHING outside. It doesn’t matter how small it is. The point is that I hardly ever do anything outside on my time off work, so I’m working on changing that. ANYTHING outside is better than nothing in my book. So far on my list I have hiking, nature walks, hammocking, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, biking, and river rafting!
I’m ESPecially excited bc every activity that I’m going to do is something that I can do on my own, with friends, or even make a date night for me and Eric! I can’t wait to see what I find about myself this month ❤
If you want to follow along and try out similar activities wherever you live, share your experiences with me!! I’d love to hear! Make sure you subscribe to my blog so you catch my weekly plans
